What It Feels Like to Take a Waltz Lesson in Vienna

Vienna has the Kunsthistorisches Museum. The Staatsoper. The Belvedere. Schönbrunn. The coffee houses. The Naschmarkt.

And then there is the Viennese Waltz.

Not as a performance you watch from a velvet seat. As something you do. Something you feel. In the city where it was born. Where it still lives.

Not a Tourist Activity. A Real Encounter.

Most visitors to Vienna observe its culture from a respectful distance. They admire the architecture, photograph the palaces, listen to the music.

But there is a difference between seeing a city and touching it.

At Waltz in Vienna, we invite you to touch it.

In 50 minutes, you and your partner learn the fundamental steps of the Viennese Waltz – posture, rhythm, rotational movement, and the connection that makes this dance unlike any other. No prior dance experience required. No performance pressure. Just you, your partner, and one of Vienna’s most living traditions.

Where It Was Born. Where It Still Lives.

The Viennese Waltz is not a museum piece. It is danced every winter at the great balls of Vienna – at the Hofburg, at the Belvedere, in the grand ballrooms that have hosted emperors and artists for centuries.

When you learn it here, in Vienna, with a teacher who has dedicated nearly 30 years to this tradition, you are not taking a dance class. You are stepping into something that has been alive in this city for over 200 years.

Fifteen Years of Waltz in Vienna

Waltz in Vienna was founded in 2011 by Aga Bohun – certified Dance Master, cultural ambassador, and one of Vienna’s most experienced waltz teachers. What began as a single vision – to bring people into genuine contact with Viennese living culture – has grown into something rare.

A complete home of Viennese culture. Waltz workshops. Classical concerts. Viennese Ball productions. The Waltz in Vienna Chamber Orchestra. And a community of guests from every corner of the world who have taken their first steps here.

This autumn, Waltz in Vienna celebrates 15 years.
